¿What is an insurance broker?
According to the Law of Private Insurance 146-02 of the Dominican Republic, an insurance broker is the person or entity authorized by the Superintendent of Insurance for representing an applicant for insurance, is involved in the recruitment of insurance whole class, receiving a sole remuneration committee agreed with the insurer. " The essence of this law is: to protect the insured because the insurance financial products with a high level of technical complexity, which is why the insurance broker should serve as an advisor to the client in the recruitment of insurance and thus match the expertise of both parties and are assured. The insurance is a noble, complex, which is inserted into the economy and protecting the assets of individuals and businesses to ensure stability of the economy in times of crisis. The world of positive legislation regarding the activity of the insurance broker, in its aims to enable the insurance intermediary is conducted only by persons with knowledge of the law governing insurance contracts, with total dedication to his profession, in addition to completely independent. Therefore, the profession of insurance brokers is based on three pillars of great importance for society and the insurance market: 1. Enabling As a technical requirement the Professional Insurance Brokers must pass competitive examinations to the Superintendent of Insurance. 2. Professionalization Security requires the presence of a professional to assist the customer, before and during the contract especially in relation to an incident. 3. Independence The independent insurance broker in respect of the insurer allows an objective and comprehensive view over the interests of policyholders. Any contractual relationship with any insurance company is inevitably a conflict of interest. |
